ABOUT US

Established in 2003, Fremantle Wool Trading is a highly regarded supplier of wool to mills around the world. The business is a buyer and processor of Australian wool which it exports to fashion industry suppliers and wool manufacturers in Europe and Asia.

Fremantle Wool Trading is a boutique wool trading business (employing just five staff) trading around $20 million worth of wool each year.

It trades with wool agents, spinners, and suiting manufacturers and is primarily a buyer of Australian Merino wool which it processes and ships overseas.

In its early days, the business was mainly involved in exporting scoured wool, but over the years has moved to other processing methods including carbonising (removal of vegetable matter) from the wool, combing lambswool and the trading of greasy wool.

Fremantle Wool Trading has considerable expertise in carding and is introducing specific blends for each mill, providing them with the ability to create a unique end product.

As well as changing processes there have been changes in the markets in which Fremantle Wool Trading deals. Asia in general has become increasingly important to the business with expansion into Korea as well as China and India.

Fremantle Wool Trading is ranked in the top 30 wool export businesses in Australia but is a relatively small player in comparison to the major exporters.

The company is proud of its expertise, the relationships it has built and the quality of its agents in the UK, Italy, France, Portugal, China, Korea, India, Switzerland and Germany, which provide an advantage over its competitors.

Fremantle Wool Trading is very conscious of the ethical treatment of animals where possible promotes the sourcing of non-mulesed wool.

Fremantle Wool’s reputation is built on the reputation of John Bradbury who has more than 30 years’ experience. John is known to the fashion industry around the world, particularly in the Italian textile industry. Fremantle Wool Trading has become a very respected player in the Australian wool scene under John’s guidance.
